Dress Well or Go to Hell

Why is it that some people feel the need to conform while others feel the need to be different? I am one who always feels the need to be different & express myself in that way. Others are more conservative in their ways of carrying themselves, trying to draw as least attention to themselves as possible. This could be an intro-extrovert thing or it could be the society around us dictating what we feel more comfortable with.

While some feel the need to express themselves with the way they dress, others try to dress as casual or main stream as possible. the beautiful contrast of these two personalities form the beautiful colorful world we live in. I like to wear colorful clothing, ride my skateboard & paint with bright colors; all great ways to express myself without uttering a word.

If you are introverted in the way you dress, I suggest you get a GQ Magazine and start beefing up your wardrobe. Get acquainted with what you think looks cool & don't be afraid to follow that. It will give you character & bring out your true colors (excuse the pun). Whether you want to wear a crisp suit & tie everyday or if you just want to get a few new pieces of clothing to spice things up, it's going to be worth it.

What you wear will effect the first impression people have on you so my advice is "always dress like your going on a date". If you've got a shirt in your closet that you just hate wearing, throw it our or donate it; don't hold on to it just because you can. Get ride of it, trust me you won't miss it.

People also take you more seriously when you dress well. Now I'm not talking about spending outlandish sums of money on clothing. Just buy & wear what you like, don't conform, don't buy what you think will fit in, buy what you truly love & you will be noticed.

If you wear clothing that you really love you will feel more confident & in control. You need to have a sense of self especially in this turbulent time we live in. Every device we turn on is trying to get us to buy something, buy the right thing, don't just buy it because it's there, see what else is out there look around and ultimately feel your way to the right decision.

This is true with anything in life. Autonomy is subconsciously respected & people will take you more seriously if you live up to your own standards. Anyone who tells you what to wear can go to hell. If you have a job that requires you to wear a uniform don't let it deter you from buy clothing that will make you feel alive. Do what you gotta do, but the second you get home, change it up, trust me it's worth it.

Do your laundry! I know how it can be, single, big city life, workaholic, no time etc. Don't wait till you have a pile of laundry five feet tall to lug it to the laundromat, do it now. Make it a consistent thing, you may think, "oh I can wear this shirt again, whats the big deal" you will be more comfortable & you will have better performance at work or whatever you're doing that day!

Take action. Whether its buying a new pair of jeans or blasting the most funky out of wack music on your way to work. Do it. Just do something that will stand out, do something that will define you, do something autonomous, do something that will make you different from the people around you. Individuality is very important in today's day & age code of dress is just one good example but however you want to express it is fine. Just do something.

Dress well or go to hell.
