Saudi Arabia: Friend or Foe?

I want to address the recent ‘buzz’ about Saudi Arabia and my view may be controversial but it’s an important prospective to consider. We heard news that a Saudi Journalist was murdered in the Saudi Embassy in Turkey.

Is this the first time we’ve heard of people being mistreated by the Saudi government? No. Does that make it right? No. Do we in the western world condone such atrocities? No.

Is the Saudi government an absolute monarchy? Yes. Did this happen on their soil? Yes.

My point is not made, I’m just getting started. Here in the U.S. people don’t think much of Saudi Arabia, they seem to be a country that has a lot of oil, they make their money, and they pretty much stay out of the news. Saudi Aramco is the name of the family owned, state owned oil powerhouse that supplies the world with 12.5 Million barrels of oil per day. That’s a billion dollars in revenue per day, and the company is planning an IPO with a valuation of 2 Trillion.

Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia: Muhammad Bin Salman
How does this effect us? And why do I care. So, economically Saudi Arabia is very important because if their government somehow looses it footing and the county becomes unstable, this could result in all of that oil being withheld from the world economy causing oil prices to skyrocket. This would directly effect the transportation industry and in effect, it could cause a global catastrophe and halt international trade. You thought tarifs were bad? Try looking at everything around you and imagine the prices increasing by 40%.

But let’s back up from the economics for a second and analyse them politically. The U.S. is no stranger to befriending monarchies. Namely, Great Britain, Bahrain, The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and many others. If you want to say that a monarchy is just a nice word for dictatorship, the list of dictators that made friends with the US is much longer than you would expect, and it’s all in an effort to keep your pretty little life under the Fahrenheit umbrella untampered.

Now let’s dig in to their international affairs and see what we have to loose by toppling this regime, or at least loosing our friendship with them. In early 2017 President Donald J. Trump took a trip to Saudi Arabia and met with their leaders. After the trip Air Force One made a milestone flight, the first ever flight from Saudi Arabia to Israel. Whether you like trump or not, this was a major step in a peace effort that would include Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Arab League. In efforts to end the Israel-Palestinian conflict, Saudi Arabia would be a great peace partner.

Location of the proposed city in relation to Jordan, Egypt & Israel

Saudi Arabia is also planning to build a city called Neom, which will be located on the northwestern coast of Saudi Arabia, bordering, Egypt, Jordan, and you guessed it, Israel. Imagine a 20 minute ferry from Eilat to Neom. But what is Neom? Neom will be a hub for innovation, a city completely powered by renewable energy, wind, solar the works. It will also have self driving cars, robotics in all aspects of the new urban lifestyle, crypto currency, drone delivery, and much more. This will be a haven for tech entrepreneurs and could be the gold rush of the 21st century.

But before you get lost in your imagination, let me remind you, there are globalists that are working very hard to stop this. With every innovation there is a major fight to keep the status quo, usually by governments and corporations that have special interests. But let me say this, Oslo is dead, and Saudi Arabia would be an amazing peace partner in the Middle East.

A unified Middle East could be such a powerful force in the world. Imagine, a billion people living in harmony. Living under their own guidelines, religious freedom, remember? If we don’t like the way they treat their citizens and we truly care, we should approach them diplomatically. But let’s not bite the hand that feeds us here.

Saudi Arabia does not want to be in the G8 and they do not threaten the world with nuclear weapons, they don’t scream death to America and they certainly are not an enemy of the US. Before we go start another war let’s think first, and stop it in it’s tracks, right here, right now. Peace.
